Katya grew up in the Ukraine and graduated from a prestigious university with a major in International Relations. She became a hip-hop performer, spicing up her songs with shocking lyrics. She says, “I’m a bad girl, and all my chances are hurled. But now I feel much better and my grounds are firm.” Katya and Alex initially met and played together in a jazz band, and then decided to create a different type of music, founding Stereolizza in 2004. In 2005 Ingvo joined the group.

During the Black Eyed Peas world tour in 2006, Stereolizza opened for them in Kiev. The band participated in the biggest festivals of Poland and Russia, performing on one stage with the Rasmus, Melanie C, Planet Funk, Mattafix and Andreas Johnson.

2007 was marked by all-Ukrainian tour, organized by one of Ukrainian mobile operators, where Stereolizza played together with Sean Paul, Chemical Brothers and Apollo 440.

In 2007 X.Y.Z. and Corporate Logic songs attracted the attention of American TV and film producers. X.Y.Z. became a soundtrack of Moonlight Show. Episode 13, and Corporate Logic was picked as a soundtrack to the feature film Forever Strong' (sports drama).

In 2008 the band moved to Los Angeles. Recently they are working on the new album, playing gigs at various venues in U.S.A.

Katya Shalayeva

Katya was born in Russia and moved to Ukraine in her teens. Her parents wanted her to be a diplomat and were preparing her to a somewhat political career. This was not what Katya wanted. “I didn’t have too much of office life, but what I had was enough for me”, says Katya.
