He was a member of Ireland's Under 19 European Championships team in 2002 finishing fourth and scored against England. He also competed at the World Youth Soccer Championships in the UAE 2003 scoring 2 goals. He then made his debut for the Republic of Ireland U21 side in a game with Georgia on March 28, 2003.
