And statistically had his best year to date with 55 tackles, tackle for loss, 15 PD, 1 FF, 2 INT, 1 TD. He also more than held his own as he filled in matching up against top receivers Mike Wallace (Steelers) and Dwayne Bowe (Chiefs) while Asomugha was out several games with a high ankle sprain and played a hand in helping the Raiders secondary finish 2nd in the league in Pass Defense trailing only San Diego Chargers. He played brilliant in Week 9 against the Chiefs to take the division lead while holding Dwayne Bowe to 3 catches for 24 yards and also did the same in Week 17 while also adding a INT for TD en route to capping off an 8-8 season, the best since 2002. He and Nnamdi Asomugha teamed together to form the #1 CB tandem in the NFL surrendering a stingy 38% completion rating and only 4 TD's given up rivaling the Jets tandem of Revis and Cromartie at 43% and 10 TD's. Routt himself would finish with 10 lowest Opp QB rating (69%) and the 2nd lowest comp % in the NFL among all corners behind Revis.

2011

On February 24, 2011, the Raiders resigned Stanford with a three year, $31.5 Million dollar deal to remain in Oakland. Routt will earn a maximum of $31.5 million during his contract, including a guaranteed $20 million over the first two years.

2011 Contract Extension

On August 5, 2011- Stanford Routt made history by becoming the NFL's third highest paid cornerback behind Eagles Nnamdi Asomugha and Jets Darrelle Revis. Routt restructured his three-year, $31.5 million contract to 5yr/54.5 Million. With the Raiders over the salary cap, Routt reallocated the majority of his $10 million 2011 base salary into a roster bonus. As payback, the Raiders added two years to his deal and bumped its total value to an incredible $54.5 million. According to Forbes, Routt is now the 15th highest paid player in the NFL.
