but, unfortunately, no one took him seriously. He was a bit naïve and trusting, and his dalliances with the women of Walford brought him little happiness. Luckily for Spencer, his older brother was always there to look out for him and help him through the hard times.

History

Spencer arrived in November 2002, as the younger brother of Alfie Moon

. When Alfie took over management of The Queen Vic, he moved into the flat upstairs along with his grandmother Nana Moon. Both Spencer's parents had been killed when he was young, and since then he had been brought up by his brother and grandmother.

On New Year Eve 2002, after much chasing, Spencer managed to bag a kiss from Kelly Taylor

. This led him to believe that a relationship was on the cards, and so Spencer spent the early part of 2003 trying to woo her. He plied her with gifts, dressed in suits to impress her and hounded her wherever she went. Unfortunately for Spencer, Kelly didn't take him seriously and Spencer just ended up looking the fool. Spencer's inexperience with women was painfully obvious and as his 18th birthday approached he admitted to Alfie that he was still a virgin and was likely to remain that way as he had little success with girls. Alfie decided to give him tips on the best way to pull women - "go for the ugly ones!" On the night of his birthday, Spencer managed to get a snog almost immediately, but the girl soon found out he was only chasing her because he deemed her an easy lay and so she left. It seemed that Spencer wouldn't be getting his birthday wish after all. However, Kelly witnessed his plight and decided to cheer him up by taking him home for a good time! Spencer was over the moon, but Alfie managed to ruin things by offering Kelly money to take him out the following day. Kelly was an ex-prostitute, and she immediately thought that Spencer was attempting to buy her body. She refused to see him again, thus ruining any chance he had of developing their relationship.

Spencer began to think that the only way to be taken seriously by women, was to impress them with money, so he started flogging dodgy gear provided to him by Mickey Miller

, with the hope that Jack would drop the issue. Jack had a reputation to uphold however, and couldn't let the matter go. Alfie decided to take the rap for Spencer and got a severe beating from Dalton's men.

Spencer tried to settle down after this and worked for his brother behind the bar of The Vic, so he could keep out of trouble. However more problems arose soon after, when a one night stand with Vicki Fowler

. Despite Spencer's protests she went ahead with the termination behind his back. Spencer found it hard to forgive Vicki after this, but they managed to sort out their differences on New Year's Eve 2003, when they were both stranded on the Scottish moors following a motor accident.

In 2004, Vicki decided to meddle in Spencer's love life and she tried to set him up with Kelly Taylor. After several ill-fated attempts, Vicki then decided to lock them both in the office at Angie's Den one night. They initially started to argue, and Kelly told Spencer she only slept with him a year earlier out of pity and Spencer insulted her about her sordid past. However, as the night wore on, the two began talking, and when Vicki finally came to let them out, she was overjoyed to find them kissing. The couple remained happy for a while and it seemed that Spencer and Kelly were smitten with each other. . Kelly found an article in a magazine promoting 'Red Hot Holiday' and the trio got ready for their interviews. Kelly and Kareena passed with flying colours but Spencer didn't so he was forced to stay behind while Kelly went away. On the day of her departure, Kelly told Spencer she loved him, which he reciprocated, and after a tearful farewell, Kelly promised she'd be back after the summer.
Spencer waited for Kelly to return, but by the end of the summer, Kareena had returned and there was no sign of Kelly. Eventually, Kareena told Spencer that she'd met another man and was not coming back. Spencer was heartbroken.

Perceiving him to be wealthy Stacey seized on the opportunity to blackmail Spencer and claimed she was only 15. Fearing he'd end up a convicted paedophile Spencer paid Stacey money and (illegally) served her alcohol in the bar. He was relieved when he found out that, she was actually over the age of consent and therefore he had not committed any crime.
