Southern Stars Football Club is an association football (soccer) club from the South-Eastern suburbs of Melbourne
, Victoria
. Formed in 1974, The club was formerly known as Dingley City Soccer Club which was changed in 2004 to Southern Stars FC. Currently competing in the Victorian State League Division 2, their home ground is currently Ross Reserve Noble Park, and their training base is at Howard Road Dingley. Club colours are red and white (full red kit home, full white kit away). After an unsuccessful year in 2009, Southern Stars FC has been relegated to the Victorian State League Division 2, it is the club's first time getting relegated in its 36-year history.
SSFC are proud to see that the players back then are still presently with the club and are actively involved in taking this Club to the next step which is Premier League. The club originally started off as Cheltenham Soccer Club (Cheltenham Spor) in 1974; 15 years later in 1989 it changed its name to Mentone ATA Soccer Club (ATA Spor).
In 1990 Mentone ATA Soccer Club ceased officially as a soccer club.
However in 1991 (one year later) Aykut Sakranlioglu re-established a Turkish-based Soccer Club and named it Parkdale Soccer Club (Genclik Gucu (Youth Power)), Which in 1995 moved to Dingley and changed its name once again, but this time to Dingley Soccer Club, but while retaining its Turkish name of Genclik Gucu.
It is exactly 36 years from the date that a Turkish Soccer Club was established in the South Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne.
The club is known as Southern Stars (Genclik Gucu) Football Club, but this time around we SSFC have outgrown the name and also the ground known as Chadwick Reserve in Dingley. Today the Southern Stars FC has players from all backgrounds.
SSFC have moved onto bigger and larger sporting facility in Springvale to Ross Reserve.
Ross Reserve is also home to Springvale City Soccer Club. Our Seniors and Reserves teams will be having their games there at Ross Reserve. SSFC have not given up Chadwick Reserve, this Reserver will now be home to our Junior Leagues.

Most memorable win – 05/09/09 Southern Stars U21's 4 – 3 Western Suburbs U21's (Round 22)
After a scrappy first half the U21's found themselves 3–0 down, the second half the U21's
came out with a fighting spirit and managed to find a quick goal. Not giving up they continued
their positive run and managed to find another 2 goals equalising the game to 3–3. Then in the last minute of the game sealed the game of with a wonderful goal putting Southern Stars in the lead, to claim a thrilling 4–3 victory.
