Qualification

SAIPA was formerly known as the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of South Africa.
However, South African CPAs perform only accounting and tax work, usually for smaller entities, and may not perform auditing work. For that reason, to avoid confusion with American companies who are used to CPAs performing audits, the name was changed to the current one, and the qualification to "Certified Professional Accountant".
