Somerset is located on the estuary of the Cam River mid-way between the township of Wynyard

Somerset is home to five sporting venues: a football field, soccer field, tennis courts, a recreation center and a surf lifesaving club.
Somerset Strikers Cricket Club play out of Langley Park. The team Colours are Blue and White. President Matthew Knowles and Treasurer Noel Murray have brought the club back from the brink of folding to a stable club with 1 win from 1 game in season 2011.
