Whereas his previous album Fearless had been almost entirely original songs, Simplicity was a half-originals half-covers mix, and contained a wider variety of source material than the covers on his first album Read My Lips
. Curry did not make any promo videos for the album, which may explain why it failed to sell in the numbers of his previous two releases.
