 would involve the installation of nearly 600 wind turbines north-west of Broken Hill. The large wind farm should have the capacity to generate electricity for 400,000 homes. On 3 June 2009, the project was approved by the NSW state Government.

Delays

The project was initially set to begin construction in the first half of 2010, yet several issues caused delays. To begin, the transmission line needed to connect the fully developed wind farm would need to be as long as 300 km, and due to multiple connection options, as well as an expected large cost of the infrastructure, the decision of the final solution has been delayed . In addition to this, Martifer Renewables, one of the co-owners of the project, began suffering of financial difficulties ultimately leading to the sale of REpower

, a wind turbine manufacturer, as well as several other projects and developments in its portfolio.

, does not have the financial support from the mother company due to Conergy's financial difficulties, and so find themselves in a situation where they have no means to finance the equity necessary to develop such a large-scale project.

In 2011, there has been no sign of any movement in regards to the further development of this wind farm, and the owning conglomerate ceased releasing updates on the wind farm status in March 2010.
