History

The Sidney Daily News was previously known as the Shelby County Democrat when it was purchased in 1876 by Amos Publishing founder General James Oliver Amos. The newspaper remained in the hands of the Amos family through 1999. In 2003, Brown Publishing Company

 purchased The Sidney Daily News from Amos Press,
and in February 2009, Tuesday editions were halted due to the weak economy.
Brown Publishing filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on April 30, 2010.

The Sidney Daily News combined with several other Brown-owned papers in nearby commnunities are now owned by Ohio Community Media Incorporated based at its central printing location in Tipp City, Ohio under the moniker of I-75 Newspapers.
