After SpongeBob's fourth season, Sherm left Nickelodeon to write and illustrate his first book for Walter Foster Publications, "Cartooning: Character Design". http://www.amazon.com/dp/156010967X http://cartoonsnap.blogspot.com/ Sherm also began teaching classes in storyboarding at the Entertainment Art Academy in Pasadena, CA. Some of this material was turned into an instructional DVD on how to storyboard called, "Storyboard Elements."

After spending two seasons writing and drawing boards on "My Gym Partner is a Monkey," Sherm spent the next year working at Walt Disney Studios, writing and drawing storyboards on the hit TV series, "Phineas and Ferb
