Early in 2010, Boymelgreen became the target of a media campaign by owners of his first large project, Newswalk, in Brooklyn, NY, completed in 2002. In 2007, the owners had filed a $10 million lawsuit against Boymelgreen and related parties for a wide variety of construction defects. In 2010, they developed a website called ShameOnShaya.org, in English, Hebrew and Russian, which received media attention in the US and Israel. Cuomo received the contribution at the same time the New York State Attorney General’s office failed to respond to Newswalk’s requests for help against the developer.
