Shantiniketan Indian School was founded on 27 July 2000 by a team of promoters who felt the need to establish a school to provide quality education at affordable fees . Classes from Play school to Std VI began on 4th September 2000 at the B Ring road campus .On 1st April 2003 Std IX was added and in April 2004 Std X began.On 19 September 2010 SIS was shifted to Barwa village where all facilities are provided.

The school is affiliated to CBSE and was approved by the Supreme Council of Education. At present SIS is having 1952 students.

The CBSE-i (CBSE International) system has commerced for Std I and Std IX in September 2010.

A system of CCE (Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation) also commerced in SIS to get its students grades in every aspect, Behavioral/Teacher respect/Public relations/Attitude etc.
