. In 2004 she was a silver medalist at the World Junior Championships and in 2003 she was a World Junior Champion. At the 2001 World Junior Championships she won a silver in the 500m and a bronze in the 1000m. She holds the World Junior record for the 500m.

Early life

Shannon was introduced to speed skating at age 10 at the St. James Speed Skating Club when her friend suggested that she try it.
