Before joining Fault Lines, Walker reported from Haiti for Al Jazeera, the only international TV news network to maintain a bureau in Port-au-Prince after the earthquake. He arrived on the ground less than 24 hours after the earthquake hit and stayed on for a year and a half to document progress of the relief effort.

Prior to joining Al Jazeera English's Americas broadcast center in 2008, Walker was based at the Middle East headquarters where he helped to launch the channel.
