Scottsburg High School is a public four-year secondary school accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The school's colors are purple and gold and the mascot is a Warrior. The school had an enrollment of 860 in the 2010-2011 school year. The school has 51 professional staff members, with over 95% having obtained at least a master's degree. The school has a graduation rate of 80.1%, attendance rate of 95.9%, and 25% of students earn an Indiana Core40 diploma with academic honors

Curriculum

Scottsburg Senior High School has a core curriculum made up of subjects in Math, Science, English Language Arts, and Social Studies. Students are required to take 3 years of math, 4 years of English, 3 years of science, Geography/ World History, U.S. History or American Studies, Economics, Government, Careers, Computer Applications, at least 2 years of a foreign language, 1 year of physical education, and a fine arts requirement, among other things.

The school also offers electives in Business, Driver's Education, Family & Consumer Sciences, Foreign Languages (Spanish & French), Performing Arts (Band & Choir), Visual Arts, and Vocation-Agriculture .

Athletics

Scottsburg's boys and girls basketball teams have both been dominant traditions at the school. The Warriorettes have had seven players named to the elite Indiana All-Stars and legendary coach Donna Cheatham coached the All-Stars in 1986. In 1989, under the direction of Hall of Famer Donna Cheatham, the Scottsburg Warriorettes defeated Benton Central to win their first and only state championship in basketball. The Warriorettes have won 16 sectional titles, 10 regional titles, 3 semi-state titles, and one State Championship. Current Warriorette coach Donna Cheatham is the winningest girls coach in the state and has a record of 586-183 and the 2010-2011 season will be her 38th year coaching. The Boy's Basketball team at Scottsburg has produced two All-Stars in LaVerne Altemeyer and Bill James. The winningest boys coach in Scottsburg history is Jim Barley and he holds a record of 193-91. The Warriors have won 22 sectionals and 5 regionals.

Performing Arts

The Scottsburg Senior High School music department consistently ranks as one of the top high school music departments in the state of Indiana with the band under the direction of Timothy Johnston and Reid Young. The Scottsburg Band of Warriors have made 25 appearances to the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) State finals since 1983. This includes winning the Class C State Championship in 1989, and finishing Class C State runners-up in1985 and 1990. The Band of Warriors finished 4th place at ISSMA state finals in both 2009 and 2010, marking their highest finish since 1997.

The concert bands, divided as Symphonic (Group I Level) and Concert (Group II or III Level), are consistent gold rated and contest winners, including Virginia Apple Blossom Festival, ISSMA Concert Band Festival, and ISSMA Concert Band State Finals. The jazz ensemble, brass choir, woodwind choir and other mixed ensembles are well decorated, including Chicago Jazz Festival Champions in 2005 and are consistent ISSMA Solo and Ensemble State Finalist and Gold Rating recipients.

The Winter Guard, a sub-division of the band program, ranks as one of the top in the state and nation. Started by Steve Nauman and currently under the direction of Dustin Everitt and LaKynn McDonald, the group is a perennial State Finalist, including their feeder program from Scottsburg Middle School. In 2009 and 2010 the middle school program became the silver medalist for the TriState Circuit. The high school group became the bronze medalist in 2008.
