Salem Junction is a railway junction station located in Suramangalam, a former municipality about 5 km from Salem. This area was integrated with Salem when the corporation was formed in 1994.

Apart from these , salem junction with 6 platforms earlier is being changed to 8 platforms for which work is under progress.new modern office is going to be constructed.
