Salazar is a Spanish noble surname of one of the most powerful families of Spain, which took its surname from the Valley of Salazar, in Castilla la Vieja. They're also the ancestors by illegitimate line of the Allende family, the reason why some of its members use Allendesalazar.
In the reign of John III of Portugal passed to Portugal Ventura de Frias Salazar, of whom remained issue who continuated the surname.
