Sacred Heart Academy was established in 1889. It was run at the time by a small group of Dominican Sisters.

. Sacred Heart Academy occupies two buildings. The main building is the high school. Its neighbor is the elementary school. The high school instructs students in grades 7-12, while the elementary school teaches students in grades DK-6. The current principal is Denny Starnes. Sacred Heart Academy (SHA) expanded its elementary school in the summer of 2008 by building on top of the previously one-story cafeteria to accommodate two new classrooms. In 2010, the school received two victories: Their Science Olympiad
