Funding

According to its brief 2009 annual progress report, SANE has an annual income of just over £1 million. Although the source of the income is not specified, it states that all its activities rely on support from voluntary donations.

A 2005 UK government investigation into the influence of the pharmaceutical industry reported that SANE receives donations from pharmaceutical companies, and alleged a conflict of interest, but SANE replied that it was reluctant to disclose any names and cited the Data Protection Act. However, as of 2009, SANE's website lists unspecified support from the pharmaceutical companies AstraZeneca, Bristol Myers-Squibb, Lilly UK (a division of Eli Lilly & Co) and Janssen-Cilag, as well as many other sources.
