History

The original school was built in 1912 under the direction of School District 23 head Thomas Barber. It opened in September 1913. The original building is now an A-class heritage building.

By the sixties, the school consisted of three buildings. The Brick Building—the original schoolhouse with four classrooms on the upper floor, and the administrative offices, storage, and the North Gym on the lower floor. The second building was the Frame [or wood] Building, a much-extended building of about a dozen classrooms on two floors. The third building was the New Gym.

The current school on Webster Road was opened in 2003 as a replacement for the one on Rutland Road.

In 2007, Principal Janet Slaney was named one of Canada's Outstanding Principals.
