. There were approximately 1000 students in Years 7 to 11 on roll in the 2009-2010 college year, plus around 200 students in the Sixth Form. There are approximately 70 teaching staff and 60 support staff.

The school was formerly the Chichele College for Girls until around 1990 when it was amalgamated to become The Rushden School. In 2005 it became the Rushden Community College.

deemed that it was "failing to give its students an acceptable standard of education and the persons responsible for leading,
managing or governing the college are not demonstrating the capacity to secure the necessary
improvement in the college.".

However since then the College has improved significantly. In the college's latest OFSTED report it was deemed to be at least satisfactory in all areas. In 2009 the College achieved record results of 48% of students gaining at least 5 GCSEs at C grade or above including English and Mathematics, an improvement of 15.6% over the previous year.
