 (registration 9M-MIA) took off from Brunei at 19:03 and minutes later the flight crew got in contact with air traffic control at Miri Airport. The flight crew of flight 238 requested clearance to land at the airport. Air traffic control cleared the flight for the final approach to runway 02 but the flight crew did not radio back the control. At 19:42 the flight was on approach to the runway but flight 238 crashed on a slope at 500m in Lambir Hills National Park

. A search for the aircraft was cleared but the wreck of the Dornier Do 228 was found at 07:10 the next morning. The accident killed 10 and 1 survived is the pilot.
