Ross Levinsohn is the EVP of "Americas" at Yahoo where he oversees the US, Canada, Latin and South American businesses for the Internet giant. He was named to this post in November, 2010, after nearly three years as managing director of Fuse Capital, a technology and media investment firm based in Los Angeles. Named by Murdoch in 2005 to head Fox Interactive, he moved quickly to build the division, most notably paying in excess of $500 million for myspace.com. In less than two years, Fox Interactive Media was valued at more than $6 billion according to Murdoch in a speech in October.
His previous operating experience included heading Fox Sports
Interactive Media, the digital arm for Fox Sports, including the web site, mobile and interactive tv. There, Levinsohn grew the web business to more than 14 million monthly visitors. His past executive experience includes running the AltaVista
-portal Alta Vista Live, running one of the first sports properties on the web, Sportsline, which went public in 1997 and was later acquired by CBS, and serving as Director of Production and Marketing Services at HBO.
In December 2007, Levinsohn and former AOL Chairman Jonathan Miller launched Velocity Interactive Group, a $1.5 billion media and communications investment fund. Their first investments signaled a broad global palette. In the US, video advertising concern Broadband Enterprises, digital media management concern Fabrik, Inc. (sold to Hitachi), Publish 2, Generate, True/Slant
and 5:1, an online advertising marketplace. In India, leading media outlets NDTV and India TV,and Fuse+Media, which has financed motion pictures.
In May 2009, Velocity changed its name to Fuse Capital and announced a second fund with Best Buy to invest in digital media properties.
He grew up in Tenafly NJ.
Levinsohn sits on the board of the Bogart Pediatrics Cancer Research Program.
