Career

Romain Poyet discovered football when he was only 6. He signed his first contract in Roanne, before joining Saint Etienne. He stayed only one year at Saint Etienne as his coaches said he wasn't good enough. After Saint-Etienne, he moved to Roanne and eventually joined Pomey. Showing fair progress, he was contacted by Saint Priest, a club in the CFA championship. He was seen by Auxerre as a player of the future during a French cup match. As an Auxerre player, who are in the first division of the French football championship, Romain Poyet had limited first team chances due to the form of Djibril Cissé. He left Auxerre in 2005 for Clermont ((this is where i give up)) where he is shared and shows some promising action. He comes back in Auxerre for the season 2005-2006, scores a goal, but is disappointed by the selectors' choices. He joins Dijon in 2007 and is eventually shared with Brest where he is currently playing three seasons, plus one optional season if the club achieves the climb in Ligue 1.
