The settlement of Rodniki has been known since 1606. It was granted town status in 1918.

Near Rodniki, at 57°05′24"N 41°44′02"E, there is a 350-meter-tall guyed TV-mast built in 1977, which belongs to the tallest of its kind in Russia.
