Before Jerry became the Dean of the UF College of Law in 2003, he held the Floyd R. Gibson Missouri Endowed Professorship at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law in Columbia, Missouri (1998–2003). From 1994 to 1998, he was the Herbert Herff Chair of Excellence at the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis. He also served as the Dean of the University of Kansas School of Law
