Mignardi grew up playing most of his minor hockey in the Toronto area with both the OMHA Richmond Hill Stars and the GTHL Toronto Jr. Canadians. After two years with Toronto, Mignardi returned to the RH Stars for his Bantam and Minor Midget seasons and was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2006 OHL Priority Selection by the Kingston Frontenacs
