. The Rivulet Mill was originally built by Chandler Taft. Mr Sayles purchased the mill in 1864 and after repairing it, began the manufacture of shoddy. The mill burned in 1872 totally destroying the original mill. Mr Sayles and Zadok Taft rebuilt the mill and enlarged it continuing in the business until 1878 when the name was changed to Sayles, Taft & Co. Mr Taft retired in 1882 and the firm name became the Richard Sayles Mill. The mill was sold out of the Sayles family in 1910. The historic Richard Sayles House
