 (prior to July 2007, the Painesville Township Local School District). The first classes were held in September of 1949 and the first class of seniors graduated in 1952. The campus was originally two separate buildings- one for the lower grades, and the second for the upper grades. In the late 1990's, The John J. Weiss Media Center was built connecting the two buildings with four computer classrooms, a television studio, and a library.

Riverside High School is also home to the Riverside Community Field House that is no longer open to residents who live within the district. It contains a weight room, an indoor track, and a basketball court. This facility is also used as a venue for the school's basketball and wrestling teams. The campus also features two softball fields, two baseball fields, two soccer fields, and a football stadium with a track surrounding the football field.
