 in 1995. He has been a co-owner of Workman Mortgage Company since 1995. Ritch was the President of the Florida Association of Mortgage Professionals from July 2007 through January 2009. He was first elected to the Florida House in 2008 defeating Amy Tidd (D) with more than 54% of the vote. Ritch was re-elected in 2010 with over 62% of the vote; again defeating Mrs. Tidd. As a newly elected Representative of Florida's Space Coast Ritch founded the Florida Space Caucus. The Space Caucus has grown to become the largest caucus in the Florida Legislature with strong bi-partisan support.
Ritch has become known to his peers and constituents alike to be a man on a mission to reduce the size and scope of Florida's Government. As stated in the St. Pete Times Ritch "has a zeal for repeal". A tag he earned by filing more bills that repealed laws on the books than bills that added more.
Ritch continues to be a reformer. In 2011 he filed bills to reform the Florida Pension system and well as a complete overhaul of how Florida does Growth Management. Mr Workman's bill will require Firefighters and Police to work until the age of 60 years old. During a committee hearing on 3/25/2011 several Police Chiefs spoke to the committee warning that raising the retirement age would be detrimental to public safety. In the long run this bill would cost the state more because police and firefighters would stay longer and earn more. In October 2011, Workman introduced legistlation that would overturn the ban on dwarf tossing
