Plot introduction

When Portia learns of her parents buying Villa Caprice, a tumbledown Victorian house close to Gone-Away Lake, she imagines a whole new world of adventure. After all, a new house is always full of surprises. However, her dreams are shattered when she arrives to find the ugliest, cobweb-covered, junk cluttered old house that has been empty for half a century. But she and Julian soon discover that it is a wonderland filled with fifty year's worth of treasures and secrets with mysteries they must solve to uncover the greatest secret of all...
