. Red Jet 4 is the first vessel built by Red Funnel outside the UK. There were many new features added to this vessel not seen before with Red Funnel, for example anti-vibration mountings to separate the hull from the cabin to reduce noise and vibration. Vertical interceptors also lifted the aft section of the hull when deployed at speed to reduce wash. She is the fastest commercial passenger catamaran in the Solent capable of speeds in excess of 41 knots (78km/h / 46.5mph).

She first entered service in 2003, being bought as the newest catamaran in Red Funnel's catamaran fleet. MV Red Jet 4 is one of the most operated ships within Red Funnel's high speed fleet. She has operated the same regular route throughout her life. She was officially named by Dame Ellen MacArthur
