Raul Soares is a Brazilian municipality located in the state of Minas Gerais
. The city belongs to the mesoregion of Zona da Mata and to the microregion of Ponte Nova.
(MG). Once expelled the Indians from their land, took possession of the rich mountains of the Stream of Boachá leaving here its settlers to maintain possession of them.
In 1841, sold this land to Francisco Alves Valley, who is set with your family. Their children Joseph, Jacob, and Francisco Manoel Alves Valley, after his father's death, donated part of their land to the heritage of the chapel of St. Sebastian (Minas Gerais in 1925). The original chapel was founded by Father Francisco Antonio de Carvalho, who was vicar of St. Peter of irons and went to live near the chapel that created.
By deed of 29 October 1873, João Pinto de Oliveira increased wealth, donating five acres of land. The village formed there, called it São Sebastião do Entre Rios, because it is located between the rivers and Matipó Santana. The town grew slowly, and in 1902, the City of New Bridge, created the district of Rio Casca, and only in 1923 that became the name of receiving municipality town Matipó

In 1924, the council passed and received the name Raul Soares, in honor of then Governor of the State, the lawyer, writer, lawyer, politician and professor Dr. Raul Soares de Moura, sworn on 7 September 1922 and died before the end of his term due to heart problems.
The creation of the municipality of Raul Soares was authorized by State Law No 843 of September 7, 1923. Already a consolidation (the council) would be, first, to be the set of individuals to compose the executive and legislative powers. In other words, as the Mayor and City Council formed with the people, the municipality wanted and created.
So, the new municipality of Matipó was formally installed on January 20, 1924 with possession of the first councilmen elected or installation of the first town hall, with a mandate of 20 January 1924 to 16 May 1927. Joaquim Miracles Sobrinho (who chaired the inaugural session as the most voted alderman), João Domingos da Silva, Raphael Raymundo Coelho, José Maria de Souza, Francisco Costa Abrantes, Joaquim José da Silveira and Carlos Gomes Brandão. Took the government of the new council, the councilman Raymundo Raphael Coelho, chairman of the elected municipal council. At that time there was no mayor, and the president of the chamber of dual function.
So, on January 20th is the day of independence, on the anniversary of emancipation policy and the administrative council that on 19 September 1924 changed the name to Matipó Raul Soares. It is also the patron saint day of San Sebastian.
The city is headquarters of the St. Sebastian Industrial SA, manufacturer of the famous tools Tarza, considered the best of its kind in Brazil and exported to various parts of the world, and for the Mercosur countries, the United Kingdom and United States. It also has significant production of coffee, which is exported to several countries - ie, Raul Soares is a local exporter, in which considerable part of its industrial and agricultural output is sent, usually to the world. The council has a natural retreat where they live hundreds of herons, the Paradise of Garças, place of extreme beauty, one of the most beautiful places of this city that has honorably the name of one of the largest miners of all time - Raul Soares.

History
The first inhabitants of this land were Boachás Indians, who populated the rich mountains of the stream that now inherited that name. Early settlers were Sunday Cassimiro de Lana and Lana, who arrived here on January 20, 1837, from MarianaMariana
