He has the distinction of wresting the Assembly seat in Marathwada region from the Shiv Sena after 20 years in the 2009 elections. A lawyer by training, Satav was inducted into the youth Congress a year and a half ago in a wing called Aam Aadmi Ka Sipahi which especially works with the downtrodden.
