History

Railways of Germany was formed in 2005 by railway enthusiasts, Alan Rees and Tim Hale, who wanted to encourage the free sharing of information and concepts that allowed members "to achieve a modelling outcome using the information that has been posted on the forum."

The concept was to provide a free access to all enthusiasts of the Railways of Germany to exchange information and to encompass all aspects of building a German model railway, from inspiration to fruition. The ethos of the group is information not shared is lost forever.

The Railways of Germany Group's forum provides an opportunity to discuss ideas and provide mutual support in a 24/7 environment without the need for financial contribution or formal membership. In the past five years the RoG Group has become the largest group of English-speaking enthusiasts of the Railways of Germany.
