. Laid down on 4 October 1992 and launched on 27 September 1993, Chi Kuang (繼光) was commissioned in service on 7 March 1995. All of these Taiwanese FFG's have the length of the later Oliver Hazard Perry FFG's, but have a different weapon and electronics fit.

Namesake

Chi Kuang was named after Ch'i Chi-kuang (戚繼光) (1528 - 1588), who was a famous general of the Ming Dynasty
