. He was the second and longest serving manager of the bank, holding the position for 23 years. In April 1911 he married Marie Nesta Middleton and the couple constructed a two storey brick house in the eastern part of the village that is still known as the "Brotherhood House."

. Both Brotherhood and his wife enjoyed curling, tennis, and golf and he especially enjoyed duck hunting. Elected mayor in the election of 1918, he served only one year as mayor and had no further involvement with village council.
