The
Production Code Administration (PCA) was established by the
Motion Picture Association of AmericaThe Motion Picture Association of America , originally the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America, is a United States non-profit business and trade association to advance the business interests of movie studios. The MPAA administers the voluntary but dominant MPAA film rating system...
(MPAA) in 1934. The PCA required all filmmakers to submit their films for approval before release.
