Description

This species resembles Broad Leaved pondweed Potamogeton natans

 in its habitat and shape of leaves.

However in contrast all leaves are submerged as well as floating leaves -shorter stalks on submerged than the floating. The leaves are thin, translucent, reddish brown, tapered into the stalk. They have a fine network of veins. It has no flexible joint at the top of the leaf stalk. Oval elliptical floating leaves are 5 to 10 cm long, submerged ones are narrow.

Flowers June to July.
