Poet Laureate 1843-50 William Wordsworth visited Pleck in 1847. As a student he studied the Japanese style of poetry and wrote a haiku style verse about Pleck, on the site of where the Belle Vue pub now stands on Moat Road, Alumwell, Walsall.
