Peter David Steindl is the head coach of the Scotland cricket team, a post he has held since December 2007. A former cricketer who played for Scotland, he was a limited overs specialist, playing just the one first-class match for his adopted country, in 1998. From 1995 to 2003 he appeared in 10 one dayers and despite not playing in the 1999 World Cup he was part of the Scottish squad.

He played club cricket for a number of Scottish teams, including Cupar and RH Corstorphine. He memorably came out of playing retirement for the latter in the 2007 Scottish National Cricket League relegation play-off, scoring 91 against Strahmore CC.
