Coimbatore , also known as Kovai , is the second largest city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is a major commercial centre in Tamil Nadu and is known as the "Manchester of South India"....

. It lies on the Avinashi road, is the most important arterial road in Coimbatore, India. It starts near Anna Flyover, and ends at L&T bypass junction at Nillambur. After its lengthly streach of 17-km and joins the highway after the city limits.

Major textile and wetgrinder industries and a considerable number of foundries and motor / pump industries of the district are also located here.

It is the educational hub of Coimbatore, with renowned Medical, Paramedical, Engineering, Arts & Science colleges and many famous schools situated here.

Peelamedu is also home to many major hospitals like PSG hospital, Medical College Hospital, Aravind Eye hospital and the Kovai Medical Center and Hospital.

It also houses the Coimbatore IT park and the CODISSIA trade fair complex. The area also has many malls with the largest being the Fun Republic.

. This is the only road in Coimbatore where traffic follows the lane system. This 17-km stretch of road running diagonally across the city has become the hub of business for the city. Today, this road has turned out to be the most important arterial road in the city.
