County Clare

. The village has a large Roman Catholic church, three public houses, Brownes (which has been in business for at least 100 years), Parteen House (Flashes)and The Blackwater Inn. There is also a national school which has been in place since 1974 and has recently been expanded. An older schoolhouse was converted to a community hall in the 1980s, but is now disused. There is also a Co-op shop branch.

There is a strong GAA presence, Parteen-St. Nicholas GAA which draws on players from the locality, most recently they have won the Clare Intermediate League promoting them to Clare Cup and the U-21 'C' county championship. The clubs success is largely due to a good underage setup.

It is located within sight of the Ardnacrusha hydro-electric power station.

There is a Pitch and Putt club in the village. The course is only available to members.
