Park Orchards Cricket Club, nicknamed the Redbacks, are a suburban cricket club who play in the Box Hill Reporter District Cricket Association (BHRDCA). First origins of the club date back to 1966. At the end of the 1982/83 season the club disbanded, unable to pay debts owing the association. In 1983 it reformed and enter a side in the Ringwood District Cricket Association(RDCA).
Over the following years the club went from strength to strength, and rejoined the BHRDCA. The club continued to improve, with the 1st XI winning the B1 Premiership in 1993/94. At its peak the 1st XI won back to back flags in A2/A1 under the captaincy of Nick Brisbane. The step up to MacIntosh Shield proved too much, and the club was relegated back to A1.
The club continued to be strong in A1, and began to field a 5th senior side. The junior side of the club was also at its strongest ever.

Season 2006/07

During the 2006/07 season the club went through some offield troubles, driven by a small group of senior players. As a result the committee stood aside and a temporary committee was installed. After the Annual General Meeting, an all new committee was appointed without vote. The move angered and upset many on the senior group, and a large group of players left. The club's new president, Joseph Dale Harbinson, made no moves to repair this rift with the players and set about recruiting new players. After this the club shrunk from the 5 teams it had fielded in 2006/07 to only 3 teams by 2008/09. In the 2008/09 season they won the A1 flag, which led them up to play in the Mcintosh Shield.

Presidential Problems

The new president, Joseph Dale Harbinson, had problems not only in his cricket life, but also his personal. His much loved dog, Tyson, attacked a woman, Erika Tretheway, leaving severe injuries. Tyson was set to be put down as a dangerous dog, until an unidentified person broke him out of the RSPCA in Burwood.
