Retired and Vintage Pens The 98 Pen was so named as it retailed at 98 cents in the stores. The ballpoint pen was supplied with a standard refill, but this could be replaced with a jumbo refill. (The jumbo refill is still sold today). The "regular" Paper Mate pen, the lowest priced pen, with a solid-coloured barrel and cap and the "Write Bros." pen, with a white barrel and coloured cap have been merged into each other as of 2008. Now, the "regular" Paper Mate pen carries the name "Paper Mate Write Bros.".
