His football career began at Viitorul Craiova. In 1990, his first league debut started at Universitatea Craiova

 at the age of 17. on 28 November 1990 against Corvinul Hunedoara winning 8-1. By the end of the season he'd been loaned to Jiul IELIF Craiova, but again the summer of 1991 he returned to U'Craiova. The 1992/1993 season he was the team's best player and took third place in the league and won the Romanian Cup.

In summer 1995 he went abroad to Spain

In summer of 2001 he returned to Romania with Dinamo Bucharest, which won the title. The next two seasons he spent at U'Craiova, returning after 7 years. In 2004/2005 he was loaned to the Dutch side Helmond Sport
