. The title comes from the understanding that members are "kings among men." This phrase has also been considered the motto of the Order. The Order of the Crown has come to influence all major aspects of undergraduate life.

Membership

Eleven men are selected to join the Order during the second semester of their Junior year. These individuals tend to be well known and influential members of the Vanderbilt undergraduate population. Members of the group are known as "Kings". Their association is kept secret until they display a token of their membership at commencement ceremonies. Comprehensive membership of the Order of the Crown is unknown.
