    History

Northrise University was founded in 2003. The vision was conceived in 1988 through the experiences of its founders Doreen and Moffat Zimba. Born in Zambia, both Doreen and Moffat suffered from the lack of educational opportunities for high school graduates that still characterize their country. In faith Moffat and Doreen left Zambia to attend a Bible college in Australia. Upon completion, God called them to Southern California where Moffat received his Doctorate from Fuller Theological Seminary

While on this educational journey, God strengthened Doreen and Moffat's vision of starting a school in Zambia. Over time, He nourished their desire to impact the living conditions of Zambians through higher education. Thus the concept of Northrise University was initiated.

    Current Location

Northrise University is located in Ndola, Zambia. The University, located within the business centre of the town, is on Buteko Avenue, Caravelle House opposite the Savoy Hotel.Ndola is the Provincial Headquarters of the Copperbelt Province in Zambia. Ndola is about 360 kilometers north of Lusaka, the capital city of Zambia and the main hub of the Copperbelt, a region in which Zambia's copper is mined. The town is connected by rail to Kitwe and to Livingstone via Lusaka. It is home to an airport, a power station, a technical college (NORTEC) and Northrise University.

Caravelle House, wholly owned by Northrise University, is a four-storey building able to cater for 300 students. The current campus location is 8 kilometers away from town on the dual carriage way to Kitwe

    Future Location

Northrise, having been provided with 640 acres (2.6 km²) of land, has embarked on a $10 million campus project. The construction of the Main Campus structures is underway and so far the University has completed its first phase that includes a student dormitory block with the capacity of 56 students.

    Northrise University Initiative

Northrise University Initiative is a(501(c)3) California Non-Profit Corporation established to support Northrise University in Zambia.

    Student Sponsorship

Northrise University also offers opportunities for donors to sponsor students, as most Zambians cannot afford full tuition on their own. However, those who receive financial aid are required to contribute to their tuition, which gives students a greater sense of ownership and accomplishment.

    Northrise Farms

The farm’s rich soil and high water table, as well as the region’s ideal climate, make it a solid foundation for the future Agricultural program. Through its strategic partnership with California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, Northrise will provide essential hands-on training to equip students for future farming employment. The farm will also serve as a working model and consulting center for Zambians looking to establish their own farms. Short-term training opportunities for the local farming community will help Zambians increase productivity and, in partnership with Northrise, work to eliminate poverty.

    Northrise Services

Northrise Services is a company owned by Northrise University, which is a Christian based University located in Zambia, Africa. Because of the poor state of the economy, most Zambians cannot afford to pay tuition to attend classes. Since tuition alone cannot fund University operations, Northrise has had to find additional sources of funding other than donations. Therefore, N.S. was created to help ensure that the University has the financial support it needs in order to continue.
