History

At various times in its history the North Division Three has varied in regards to its status.

The North Division Three was first played for in 1974-75 for the John MacRae Cup. It was usually the top reserve league in shinty and was often won by wither Newtonmore or Kingussie's second team

Between 1996 and 1999, the North Division Three became fourth tier with the creation of a national Premier Division
